About Cable Modem Reviews

Updated on

Cable Modem Reviews is an independent buying-guide site for cable modems and modem-router combos.

We help you find a modem your internet provider accepts, so you can own the box instead of renting one.

You don't need to know the jargon. We explain terms like DOCSIS, channel bonding and multi-gig ports in everyday words.

What we cover

Our guides cover modem-only boxes and modems with a built-in Wi-Fi router, from ARRIS Surfboard, NETGEAR Nighthawk, Motorola and Hitron.

We also write provider guides for Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox and Optimum, plus short help pages on cables, hookup and blinking lights.

What "reviews" means here

Our name says reviews, but we don't run lab tests or speed tests. We read the specs and maker details, compare models side by side and look at what buyers report after using them.

You can read the full method on our How we research page.

What we don't do

We don't make or sell modems, and no brand pays us for a spot in a guide.

Cable Modem Reviews is not affiliated with ARRIS, NETGEAR, Motorola, Hitron or any internet provider.

Your provider decides which modems work on its network. We link to the provider's own lists so you can check before you buy.

How we earn money

Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

That never changes which products we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
